Dues Payments: Lifeblood of Associations

Most of my association employers and clients collect dues in the summer.  Joe Rominiecki observes in Associations Now that “for associations, the paper check is lingering but on the decline.”  In 2012, the ASAE found that 88% of associations collected some portion of dues payments via check.  In 2006, that figure was 98%.  The Federal Reserve reported that less than a quarter of all non-cash payments were via check in 2009.

Following is a table from Rominiecki’s article, “Check’s in the Mail?” Associations Now, April/May 2013, pp. 29-30, on association trends in collecting dues.  Does your association accommodate online credit card payment?
